The Akron Municipal Court officially has a new home downtown. 

The court, which was formerly located in the aging and no longer adequate Harold K. Stubbs Justice Center on South High Street, is now just a few blocks away in the newly renovated Oliver Ocasek Building located at 172 S. Broadway St.

Judge Jon Oldham oversaw the court's move and speaking of the new space he tells the Akron Beacon Journal that, "There's life in the building,” with Oldham adding that if anyone shows up to the wrong location by accident that it’s only a 4 minute walk. 

The court plans to celebrate its new location with an open house in January, after the holidays and after court officials have had a chance to unpack their boxes. The date for that open house has yet to be determined.
