A heroic rescue in Coventry Township last week where a Summit County deputy and a neighbor helped save a 92-year-man from a burning home.
News5 reports that it happened around 5pm on May 10th, when Deputy Brian Gorham answered a fire call and arrived at a Portage Lakes home engulfed in flames. The deputy and a neighbor, Don Sedlock both entered the home and helped the 92-year-old resident escape.
2 other occupants of the home were able to escape on their own. Officials say the cause of the blaze was grease fire on their grill, that led to a propane explosion, with the flames spreading to home.
