In Medina County, the sheriff’s office is investigating a string of crimes apparently targeting the Amish community. Someone has been terrorizing Amish homes in the middle of the night, shattering windows by throwing objects like railroad spikes, rocks, and bottles into homes.
News 5 reports that authorities have responded to 14 similar calls over the past few months, almost all of them taking place in the small Amish community in Homerville. So far no arrests have been made and authorities don’t have much to go on besides a dark colored sedan spotted near some of the homes, but Det. Larry Covey says whoever is responsible could be charged with a hate crime known as ethnic intimidation for the targeted attacks.
