A new poll released by the Akron Urban League shows that people who attended their April 7 Mayoral forum, think the top qualities the city's new Mayor should have are transparency and honesty.

In addition, they ranked the top issues facing the Mayor in this order:

1. Police Accountability and Public Safety
2. Economic Development
3. Housing
4. Community Violence
5. Youth Initiatives and Programs
6. Mental Health and Drug Addiction

The forum, which was held last week at their headquarters on Vernon Odom Drive, attracted about 225 Summit County residents, who heard from each of the candidates–all Democrats–will are facing off in the upcoming May primary. Because there are no Republicans running for the office; whoever wins the primary will be running unopposed in the November General election.

The Akron Urban League defines their mission in this way: "The mission of the Akron Urban League is to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Summit County, particularly African-Americans, through economic self-reliance and social empowerment."
