Sports fans have long been fascinated by statistics, from who has the fastest pitch, to how many times their team has made it to the playoffs.
But that fascination has morphed into big business powered by Sport Analytics, a winning strategy brought to life on the big screen in the 2011 Brad Pitt movie, "Moneyball", and the book that inspired it, by Michael Lewis.
Now, students at the University of Akron can turn an interest in sports and statistics into career opportunities, through two new degree programs; a Bachelor of Science in Sport Analytics, and a Bachelor of Business Administration, in Sport Business.
University of Akron Associate Professor of Management, Dr. Matthew Juravich, tells us how.
