Nearly 700 dogs found new homes in 2025 through Summit County Animal Control, with hundreds adopted and many others reunited with their owners.
County officials say 514 dogs were adopted last year, while 156 dogs were redeemed by their owners.
Animal Control credits community events and adoption drives for helping boost awareness, including seasonal adoption promotions and national pet adoption campaigns. The agency also continues to support pet owners through its Community Pet Food Pantry, which serves hundreds of households each month with free food and supplies.
Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro praised Animal Control staff for their compassion and dedication, noting their efforts help keep pets safe, healthy, and in homes.
Animal Control is currently offering its “Warm Up with a Pup” promotion, reducing dog adoption fees to $28 for a limited time. Volunteer opportunities are also available year-round.
