The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
This week’s athletes come from Barberton High School.
Taylor Miller, a sophomore, is a starter for the Barberton Girls’ Basketball Team, along with being a two-year letter winner. She carries a 4.07 cumulative GPA taking Honors Classes and is a leader for Coach Rob Walker both on the basketball court and in the community. Taylor is also recovering from a season-ending knee injury as she is looking to get ready for the 2025-26 season.
Jackson Phillips, also a sophomore, wrestles in the 215 lb. weight class for the Magics Wrestling Team. He carries a 3.27 accumulative GPA, recently took first place at the prestigious Bill Dies Tournament, and currently has a record of 28 – 1 for the 2024-25 season. After losing most of his freshman year to an injury, Jackson was able to bounce in time to finish off the 2023-24 season. He has earned All-American honors at the USA Nationals and was a Junior High OAC State Champion.
Join us in congratulating Taylor and Jackson as our Student Athletes of the Week!
