The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
This week’s athletes come from Cuyahoga Falls High School.
Shannon Payne, a senior, has proven to be a leader on and off the basketball court for the boys, leading the Black Tigers to impressive wins over Lake and Stow. He is averaging 11. 6 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game and 2.6 assists per game. Shannon has also been named player of the game at the Tallmadge Holiday Tournament last December.
Lori Huffman, also a senior, has shown her ability to be a leader for the girls basketball team. She has played a crucial role in guiding the team to a 8-10 record this season with outstanding wins over Norton, Revere, Kent Roosevelt and Walsh Jesuit this season. She is also averaging double 12.9 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game. Lori is planning to attend the University of Northwestern Ohio following graduation.
