The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
This week’s athletes are from Norton High School.
“Senior Saoirse Donley is a 4.0 CCP student. Saoirse is a starter on the 14-2 Lady Panther Basketball team. Although a little undersized, Saoirse plays the post with high energy and tenacity a team needs. She is a great defensive player in an era where most value scoring! This program values the non box score stats – like hustle plays, setting great screens rebounding and ability to defend every position on the floor. Saoirse embodies all of this. This is what makes her a great captain. Stats to her are meaningless, Winning is the only stat that matters to her! She averages 3ppg, 5.4 reb, 2 stls, her opponents she guards only hit on 27%FG and she limits their rebounds to 5 per game despite only being 5’9.
She is always willing to help with keeping scores and running the clock for 9/jv games and she brings high enthusiasm on and off the floor!” – Coach Miller
Isaac Hunter is a 5’10” Senior on the Boys Basketball Team. Isaac is an asset to the team, clinching the league title with 15 points at Woodridge and 20 points at Lutheran East. Isaac excels off of the court as well and has a 3.9 GPA.
