The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
This week’s athletes are from Cuyahoga Falls!
Maddie Richards is a Junior and a two-year starter at outside hitter for the volleyball team. A natural leader both on and off the court, Maddie was named team captain this season and has embraced the role of mentoring the younger players. Her strong play and leadership were on full display last week as she helped guide the team to back-to-back victories over Max Hayes and Suburban League rival Barberton. Maddie led the team in kills with 10 vs Barberton. Maddia has a GPA of 4.45.
Vinny Lambis is a Senior and a four-year starter at offensive guard for the Black Tigers. He serves as a team captain, where his leadership sets the tone for the entire squad. A true two-way player, Vinny not only anchors the offensive line but also makes a major impact on the defensive side of the ball. In last week’s game against Akron North, his relentless pressure on the quarterback forced a mistake that led to an interception return for a touchdown. Vinny’s toughness, versatility, and leadership make him one of the most valuable players on the field. Vinny has a GPA of 3.63.
