The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
This week’s athletes are from Stow Munroe Falls High School.
Maddie Hawks has been named Student of the Week for her outstanding dedication and commitment to both her academics and her first season on the Stow Indoor Track team. As a sophomore, Maddie has quickly become an integral part of our track family. Her positive attitude and enthusiasm are evident at every practice, where she consistently gives her best effort, no matter the challenge. She approaches every workout with a growth mindset, always eager to improve and learn from the feedback she receives. This hardworking and team-oriented spirit makes her a standout member of the squad.
In addition to her athleticism, Maddie excels in the classroom, maintaining an impressive cumulative GPA of 4.07. Her academic success reflects the same discipline and focus she brings to track. Whether she’s balancing schoolwork with practice or contributing to the positive energy of the team, Maddie manages it all with poise and determination. We are lucky to have her as part of the team and look forward to watching her continue to grow both as an athlete and a student.
Paul Bonnet, our foreign exchange student from France, has made an incredible impact at our school this year, both in the classroom and on the court. Though football is not widely played in his home country, Paul joined the football team and gave it his all, showing his dedication and willingness to take on new challenges. He then shifted his focus to basketball, where his work ethic truly shines. His teammates respect and admire him for his relentless effort and positive attitude, and it’s clear that Paul has become an integral part of the team dynamic.
Despite some language barriers, Paul has never let that hinder his experience. Though English can be difficult at times, especially when trying to understand complex phrases or slang, Paul continually pushes himself to improve his language skills and communicate effectively with others. His determination and perseverance are inspiring, and his positive attitude is contagious.
In the classroom, Paul maintains an impressive 3.836 GPA, demonstrating his academic dedication and intellectual curiosity. Though he is not currently involved in student groups, Paul is scheduled to attend the leadership retreat in December, which will give him a chance to develop his leadership skills further and connect with more peers.
Looking ahead, Paul plans to join the volleyball team in the spring, eager to take on yet another new challenge and contribute to the school community. His drive, friendly demeanor, and strong work ethic make him a standout student, and we are excited to see what else he will achieve during his time here.
