The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.

This week’s athletes are from Manchester High School.

Senior Alli Hodgkinson plays volleyball and softball for Manchester High School. She has a 3.4 GPA and is planning on attending Mount Union in the fall to continue her softball career and major in Exercise Science or Elementary Education. Alli was a 2nd team PAC-7 player in volleyball and was a 1st team PAC selection in softball last season. She will play shortstop for the Lady Panthers, who are the favorites to win the league and have the potential to make a long tournament run. Alli is an extraordinary athlete, but an even better person. She is active in her church, loves to volunteer, and always has a smile on her face. She is a great role model and an excellent representative of Manchester High School on and off the field.

Phil Partin is a three-sport athlete at Manchester High School. In addition to excelling at football, wrestling, and track he also has a 3.5 GPA. He has had a heck of a sophomore year so far and is just getting into track season. Phil was named District Player of the Year after starring for the PAC-7 champion football team as a running back and defensive back. The Panthers went from 1-9 his freshmen year to 11-2 this past season. This winter, Phil qualified for the state tournament for the second year in a row. He lost his first match, but regrouped and ended up with a 7th place finish in the 150 pound weight class. He will be one of Manchester’s top sprinters in the spring. Partin is a man of few words and lets his play on the field do the talking. He has made Manchester fans very proud and excited for what he has in store for his final two years.
