The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
This week’s athletes are from Archbishop Hoban High School.
Aleece Thompson is a two-year letter winner in track and field who excels in the 200 and 400 meter dash. She will begin her junior track season this spring and hopes to improve her personal best in both events for the third consecutive year. Aleece is also in her third year as a member of the girls basketball team. As a student, Aleece has a stellar 4.08 GPA while taking multiple honors and AP courses. She is a wonderful representative of Hoban and is a treasured member of the Class of 2027.
Ethan Yukich is in his second year as a member of the varsity basketball team. After lettering as a sophomore, Ethan’s role has expanded this season and he is a key member of the rotation for a team that has won five straight games and has a 12-5 overall record. Ethan excels in the classroom, earning a 4.4 GPA while taking a rigorous schedule. He is also a student ambassador, a peer mentor, and a member of the Math Club. Ethan’s team-first attitude and academic excellence are a great example to others, and he is a valued member of the Class of 2027.
