Akron residents and community groups can now sign up for the 2026 Akron Parks Challenge, a program that lets neighborhoods help shape improvements to local parks.
The City of Akron and Akron Parks Collaborative say registration is open through Feb. 23. Interested participants only need to provide basic contact information and the name of the park they’d like to improve.
Akron Parks Collaborative will then offer workshops and support to help groups complete applications, which are due April 6.
One park will be selected to receive $150,000 in capital improvements, with neighbors helping decide how the funding is used. Since launching in 2018, the program has helped improve 14 neighborhood parks, with more than $4.1 million invested.
