A new poll of 2,002 adults shows nearly half of Ohioans believe festive drinks like eggnog, mulled wine, and hot toddies are no stronger than light beer.
In Ohio, 47% think eggnog is “light-beer strength,” while 39% say the same about mulled wine and hot toddies. One in five believe holiday cocktails don’t count toward drink-drive limits, and 57% admit they’ve unknowingly over-drank at holiday parties because the drinks didn’t taste strong.
Many expect warm or spiked drinks to be weaker than cold cocktails, and almost half assume something called “Santa’s Milkshake” would be alcohol-free. Because of this confusion, 77% of Ohioans want alcohol strength clearly labeled on holiday drinks at bars and restaurants.
