There’s something new on display in rest areas along the Ohio Turnpike; posters advising travelers to be on the lookout for signs of human trafficking.
Turnpike officials say they are “proud to stand with Gov. Mike DeWine and our fellow state agencies in the fight against human trafficking, one of the most complex and devastating issues facing our nation. Whether through forced labor or sexual exploitation, human trafficking is a form of modern slavery that occurs in every state, including Ohio.”
Since 2021, approximately 2,380 survivors — both women and men — have been identified in Ohio, including 201 in Cuyahoga County, according to DataOhio.
