The Akron Zoo held an official naming ceremony this morning for the new baby boy white-cheeked gibbon of parents Parker (mom) and Milo (dad), as well as the little brother of big sister Lolani. The final two names from the zoo’s naming contest, Leuco and Coda, were placed on enrichment and filled with treats, with the first name that was touched touched being the winner. Milo wasted little time in going straight for the Leuco enrichment once he was released, making it the winner.

Leuco was born on June 27th, and is doing well. The name Leuco comes from the gibbon’s scientific name: Nomascus leuconys.
