Democrat Fran Wilson beat challengers Emily Durway, and Sam DeShazior to win the primary race for Akron’s Ward One Council seat.
DeShazior has been filling that position since former City Council member, Nancy Holland, stepped down last year.
As there is no Republican running in November, Wilson will be facing off against Independent candidate, Acacia Reynolds.
In Akron’s Ward 8 Democratic primary race, it was Bruce Bolden over N.J. Akbar.
Bolden has been filling that seat since James Hardy resigned last year, and will run unopposed in November.
In Tallmadge, where Democrats were asked to choose three candidates for Council-at-large, the winners were Lindsay Cammel Halm, and Jessica Epstein, along with former Mayor and City Council member, David G. Kline.
They will face Republican incumbents Christine Cipa, Nicholas Rubino and Jena Stasik, in November.
Summit County voters approved school levies in Aurora, Nordonia Hills, Manchester, Mogodore, and Springfielf, but failed to pass them though, in Highland Local Schools, and Twinsburg.
Issue 2, the statewide infrastructure proposal, passed, as did both of the library levies in our area; Akron Summit County, and Barberton.
Tax levies also passed in Lakemore Village, Sagamore Hills, and Springfield Township.
