Akron families will have a chance to pick out holiday gifts for their children this weekend, thanks to a major Toys for Tots giveaway happening in partnership with Akron Public Schools.

The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program will distribute 15,000 brand-new, unwrapped toys on Saturday, December 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at East Community Learning Center.

Families from across the Akron area are invited to attend and select toys to help make the holiday season brighter for local children. Organizers say the event is one of the largest Toys for Tots distributions in the area in recent years and is made possible by community donations, local businesses, and volunteers.

“We are thrilled to share the spirit of giving with Akron families,” said SSgt. Kevin Bonilla, Summit County Toys for Tots coordinator. “Every child deserves to feel the magic of the holidays, and this event ensures that happens right here in our community.”

Toys will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and families are encouraged to arrive early.

The Toys for Tots program, founded in 1947 by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, supports families nationwide by providing holiday gifts to children in need.
