A quick spreading fire at Timber Top apartments has left dozens of residents without a place to stay.
Yesterday, around 4:30 pm fire crews from Akron and Cuyahoga Falls responded to a blaze at a 26 unit apartment building on Tree Top Trail.
Several residents told News5 that they heard a loud explosion that was followed by flames and smoke filling the building.
Fire crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to other structures and had it fully under control around 8:45 pm.
19 of the apartments in the building were occupied and all of the residents were able to evacuate. But with heavy smoke damage to the building, all of the residents were displaced and the Red Cross was called in to help.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
