An Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper is lucky to have been unharmed after his cruiser was hit by an impaired and distracted driver during a recent traffic stop.
According to the Patrol, the trooper had another vehicle stopped the morning of January 20th in Portage County. As seen in the video, as the Trooper leaves the view of his vehicle's dashcam, you can hear the impact from the second vehicle:
Impaired driving and distracted driving are BAD on their own. Being impaired AND distracted is a whole other level of dangerous. That was the case this morning when a patrol car was struck in Portage County. The trooper narrowly avoided being struck. We are grateful he is ok. pic.twitter.com/0574eIIhJi

The second driver was placed under arrest after a field sobriety test.
The State Highway Patrol shared the video with a reminder that impaired driving is bad on its own, but distracted driving while impaired is even worse.
