Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan is looking to bolster the city's parks and public facilities with federal stimulus money courtesy of the American rescue Plan.
The more than 153-million dollars in stimulus is being split between two payments, May of this year and May of 2022 and must be spent by 2024, per stipulations from Congress.
In a video press release Thursday (see below), Mayor Horrigan broke down the spending plan at $30 Million for parks and public facilities, $29 Million on IT and budget stabilization for the City of Akron, $25 Million for housing rehabilitation grants and residential building grants, $25 Million for public utility support, $24 Million for local economic recovery, and $20 Million for community and youth violence prevention.
