A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with two carport fires at a Jackson Township apartment complex that investigators say were intentionally set.

The fires happened on back-to-back days at Lake Cable Village Apartments and caused significant property damage. On Feb. 10 around 3:30 p.m., Jackson Township fire and police crews responded to the 4800 block of South Boulevard Northwest for a fully engulfed fire involving multiple vehicles and a carport. The blaze caused substantial damage, and one person suffered a burn injury.

The following night, Feb. 11 around 7 p.m., crews were called to the 5600 block of Lasater Street Northwest for another fully engulfed carport fire involving multiple vehicles. That fire also caused major damage.

On Thursday, Jackson Township Police detectives arrested a 15-year-old male who lives in the 4800 block of South Boulevard Northwest and charged him with one count of aggravated arson and one count of arson.
