Akron Police have arrested two men in connection with the discovery of human remains at a homeless encampment in a wooded area near the 300 block of Silver Avenue.

54 year old Anthony Fields, and 34 year old Kurth M. Conway have been charged with Abuse of a Corpse, and are being held in the Summit County Jail.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the skeletal remains as those of 22 year old Xavier Menefee, who has been missing from his home in Canton, since August 2024. They say his remains were found in and nearby a fire pit.

Police found Menefee’s remains after responding to a report of a fight, late Friday afternoon, May 2.
