Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt has done it again, earning his second straight American League Manager of the Year award from the Baseball Writers Association of America.
Vogt received 17 first-place votes and 113 total points, beating out Toronto’s John Schneider and Seattle’s Dan Wilson.
At just 41 years old, Vogt led the Guardians to one of the most remarkable comebacks in MLB history, clinching the AL Central title on the final day of the season after overcoming a 15.5-game deficit in July. The team caught fire down the stretch, posting the best September record in baseball and defying the odds with just a 0.2% playoff chance at one point.
Vogt becomes only the fourth manager ever to win back-to-back honors — and the first to do it in his first two seasons as manager.
