A man is in custody after a violent assault Tuesday morning in Jackson Township against his girlfriend.

Police say officers responded around 8 a.m. to the 5100 block of Dressler Road NW for reports of a woman stabbed. When they arrived, they found the victim with serious stab wounds to her head, neck, and chest. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police arrested the boyfriend, Tyrone Card, 44, in Portage County after a pursuit ended with him crashing.

The condition of the girlfriend is not known. Police continue to investigate.
