Stark County deputies arrested a man accused of stabbing his parents inside their Canton Township home.

The sheriff’s office says it happened Wednesday evening (Dec. 3) on Carmwise Street SE. Both victims, a 71-year-old woman and a 71-year-old man, were taken to Aultman Hospital.

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries but is now in stable condition. The man’s injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

Deputies arrested the couple’s son, Joshua Lee Shaffer, 49, at the scene. He’s charged with attempted murder, felonious assault, disrupting public service, and domestic violence.

The investigation is ongoing.
