The Cleveland Browns announced a change at head coach, bringing Kevin Stefanski’s six-year run with the organization to a close.

“We have tremendous gratitude for Kevin’s leadership over the last six seasons,” the Browns said in a statement. “He is a good football coach and an even better person.” The organization thanked Stefanski for his dedication and commitment, while acknowledging that “our results over the last two seasons have not been satisfactory, and we believe a change at the head coaching position is necessary.”

General Manager Andrew Berry will continue to lead football operations and will immediately begin the search for the team’s next head coach. “The entirety of our focus is on building a team that brings our fans the success they long deserve,” the Browns said, emphasizing that the organization will “invest whatever resources necessary to build a winning football program.” With a young core already in place, the goal remains “adding talent and building out a roster that can achieve sustainable success.”

Berry called the decision “a difficult one” and described the day as “tough for our organization because of the impact Kevin has had and the deep, meaningful relationships he built across our building.” He praised Stefanski as “more than a coach,” calling him “a partner, friend and stabilizing force” who “always led authentically and cared deeply for players, coaches and staff.”

“I am disappointed that we could not accomplish more together,” Berry said. “The collective underperformance of our group is something I own.” Looking ahead, he noted the focus will be on finding a leader who can develop a young, heavily invested offense while building on a defense that “is already playing at an elite level.”

In his farewell message, Stefanski reflected with gratitude. “I leave with an immense sense of gratitude,” he said. “This organization, this community and Browns fans embraced me and my family with open arms.” He thanked his coaching staff and players, saying they “fought through injury and adversity while always putting the TEAM FIRST,” and closed by wishing everyone in the organization “nothing but success.”

As the Browns turn the page, the message is clear: appreciation for the past, accountability in the present, and a relentless focus on building a winning future.
