High school sports across northeast Ohio will undergo major conference changes in the 2026–27 school year, including a significant football-only realignment in the Suburban League to improve competitive balance, preserve rivalries and reduce travel, according to The Beacon Journal.
Suburban League – National Conference (football only)

Note: Brecksville remains in the National for other sports; Nordonia competes in the American for other sports.

Metro Athletic Conference (10 schools), adding Cuyahoga Falls, Kent Roosevelt and Tallmadge, while Coventry exits.
Principals Athletic Conference (8 schools), adding Coventry (from Metro).
No conference membership changes: City Series, Federal League, North Coast Conference
Independent schools: Hoban, Mogadore, St. Vincent-St. Mary, Walsh Jesuit.
