If you’ve ever missed cashing a refund check or lost track of a court payment, now might be the time to look again.

The Barberton Municipal Court says it is holding unclaimed funds that belong to individuals and organizations across several local communities.

According to Kristen Reed, the money comes from checks issued for refunds, restitution, or judgment payments that were never cashed.

Each year, those unclaimed funds must eventually be turned over to the City of Barberton, but the court is giving people a final chance to claim what’s theirs.

Clerk Reed has sent letters to notify known payees and is encouraging residents to check the unclaimed funds list to see if their name appears. Requests to have a check reissued must be submitted by March 20, 2026. Any funds not claimed by April 1 will be transferred to the city.

The list of unclaimed funds is available online HERE.

The Barberton Municipal Court serves Barberton, Green, New Franklin, Norton, Clinton, Coventry, and Copley.
