Dozens of Akron neighborhood groups are getting a financial boost this year. Akron City Council has announced the recipients of its 2025–2026 Neighborhood Partnership Program grants, awarding $150,000 to support community-based projects across the city.

The funding was split evenly among Akron’s 10 city wards, with $15,000 per ward. In total, 32 nonprofit organizations received grants ranging from $3,000 to $15,000. Recipients include neighborhood associations, youth programs, faith-based groups, and multicultural organizations.

City leaders say the program is designed to support ideas that come directly from the neighborhoods themselves, from food pantries and cultural events to youth programs, safety efforts, and neighborhood cleanups.

Council President Margo Sommerville says the grants are about more than just funding. She says they reflect trust in local organizations that are working every day to improve quality of life where people live. Funding helps expand services like family support programs, outreach events, and partnerships that address issues such as hunger, poverty, and neighborhood stability.

All funded projects are expected to be completed within one year, with the goal of creating lasting, positive impacts throughout Akron’s neighborhoods.
