The Akron Art Museum is opening two new exhibitions to the public on Saturday, Jan. 31, featuring historic stained glass and contemporary photography.
Transfiguration: Rachel Libeskind and the Tiffany Window offers a rare look at a restored Tiffany stained glass window depicting the Transfiguration of Christ, paired with new work by contemporary artist Rachel Libeskind. The window, originally created in 1917 for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Akron, was designed by Frederick Wilson of Tiffany Studios and has been carefully restored for public viewing.
The second exhibition, Jess T. Dugan: I want you to know my story, features portraits from three photographic series exploring identity, connection, and the life-affirming power of relationships. The exhibition celebrates Dugan’s selection as the winner of the Akron Art Museum’s 2024 Knight Foundation Purchase Award for Photographic Media.
Transfiguration will be on view through July 5. I want you to know my story runs through July 12.
