Akron Police have now filed additional charges related to the October 5 shooting on West Market Street in Highland Square, which took the life of 25-year-old Timothy Hutchinson.
23-year-old Emahni Thomas has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, Having Weapons While Under Disability, and Tampering with Evidence.
Police say their investigation indicates that the other suspect previously charged in connection with the crime, Deshawn Stafford, initiated the incident by shooting at Thomas, and that when Thomas returned fire; Hutchinson, who was an innocent bystander, was killed.
Thomas was previously arrested on unrelated charges of Aggravated Robbery and Having Weapons Under Disability. He remains in custody at Summit County Jail.
Stafford, meanwhile, is charged with a number of crimes, including Murder, Felonious Assault, and Trafficking in Drugs.
