It was all hands on deck for multiple public safety agencies in West Akron today, as an Akron Police SWAT team attempted to help US Marshals arrest a wanted man who barricaded himself inside a house in the 200 block of Kenilworth Avenue.
US Marshals say while they were trying to serve a warrant for the arrest of 35 year old Tristan Dent; the second floor of the house caught fire, and then it took the fire department hours to put it out.
Once they did; it took Marshals awhile to find Dent, who was hiding behind a false wall, which was behind a dryer in the basement.
Dent is facing multiple drug-related charges, including intent to distribute fentanyl. He was indicted in 2023, along with approximately a dozen other defendants, but was the only outstanding fugitive in the case.
