Akron-based Grassroots Architecture has been selected to lead the “Made in Akron” housing plans initiative, a partnership between the Summit County Land Bank and the City of Akron aimed at expanding housing options across the city.

The firm will develop a collection of pre-reviewed, permit-ready residential home designs that individuals and small developers can use to build new housing more efficiently. The initiative is designed to reduce design costs, shorten approval timelines, and encourage high-quality infill development that complements existing neighborhoods.

“This project is about creating practical tools that help people build housing more efficiently while still prioritizing quality and neighborhood character,” said Patrick Bravo, executive director of the Summit County Land Bank.

The plan book is expected to be completed by the end of April.
