Bowling Green State University has become the first public university in Ohio to offer a bachelor’s degree focused on the music industry, preparing students for careers in a rapidly growing global field.

The new Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry, housed in BGSU’s nationally recognized College of Musical Arts, combines music industry studies with business, marketing, communication, and technology coursework. The degree expands on the university’s long-running music industry minor and is open to all students, with no performance audition required.

University leaders say the program responds to strong demand in the music economy and includes hands-on, project-based learning, a required internship, and a capstone experience where students manage an artist for a semester.

Applications for the program are now open for Fall 2026.
