The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission has approved a $246.8 million capital budget for 2026, focused on infrastructure renewal and motorist safety.
Nearly 95% of the funding will come from toll revenue, with the rest supported by renewal, fuel tax, and service plaza improvement funds. The commission has allocated $230.5 million to planned projects and set aside $16.3 million for unforeseen needs.
Major projects include replacing or resurfacing more than 114 lane miles of pavement, installing new decks on 12 bridges, and completing two full bridge replacements.
The budget also funds a new Intelligent Transportation System and Advanced Traffic Management System, featuring dynamic message signs, variable speed limits, traffic cameras, and roadway weather sensors. The system is expected to be completed in 2027 and will provide real-time traffic and weather information to drivers.
Commission officials say the investments are designed to maintain the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Ohio Turnpike for years to come.
