Winter may be in full swing, but Cleveland Metroparks is proving there’s no shortage of ways to get outside, stay active, and enjoy the season.

One popular option returning this winter is Winter Weekends at the Zoo. From Fridays through Sundays, Jan. 16 through March 8, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo will offer heated shuttle service, special programming, keeper chats, crafts, and more as part of the Winter Wonder Weekends experience. All activities are included with general zoo admission.

For those looking for a little adrenaline, tobogganing is back at The Chalet in Mill Stream Run Reservation. Riders can experience twin, 700-foot refrigerated ice chutes, available with or without snow, through late February, weather permitting.

Hikers and outdoor explorers can also check out the Ten to Explore winter trail series, presented by Wayside Furniture. The program highlights ten scenic trails to explore in snowy conditions, offering a fresh adventure list to carry into 2026.

Another seasonal favorite, the Winter Waterfall Series, is also returning. The guided experiences showcase frozen landscapes from well-known spots like Mill Creek Falls to hidden waterfalls tucked deep within Tinkers Creek Gorge.

Golfers don’t have to wait for spring, either. Cleveland Metroparks is encouraging players to make the park system their “home course” through CrossCountry Mortgage’s Bonus Rounds Loyalty Program. For a $35 annual fee, members receive discounts on greens fees, early tee-time access, dining savings at golf concessions, and reduced pricing on USGA handicap services.

As the holidays wrap up, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is also collecting non-working holiday lights and extension cords through Feb. 15 as part of the Lights for Lions program. Donations support conservation efforts in Tanzania. No zoo admission is required to drop off items.

Those interested in education and conservation can explore the Advanced Inquiry Program at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, which offers graduate-level coursework and degree pathways through Miami University in biology and biological sciences education.

Fans of local sports and style can also shop the Cleveland Metroparks Cleveland Cavaliers City Edition collection, celebrating “The Land” through exclusive apparel available online and at Metroparks Nature Shops.

And for a cozy winter outing, reservable igloos have returned to Merwin’s Wharf, offering a unique riverfront dining experience perfect for date nights, family gatherings, or small group celebrations.
