The holiday spirit was on full display at East Community Learning Center as hundreds of volunteers helped deliver gifts to local families through a Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots giveaway.

Held Dec. 20, the event served more than 2,100 families from across the Akron area. With help from the community, local Marines collected and distributed approximately 45,000 toys, ensuring thousands of children received gifts this holiday season.

Volunteers included JROTC cadets, veterans, civilians, and active-duty Marines, all working together to sort and hand out toys throughout the day.

“This event is about community and cohesion,” said Tim Patrick, Senior Marine Instructor for the school’s JROTC program. “Every toy represents the generosity of people who care about making the holidays brighter for local children.”

School officials say the partnership with Toys for Tots reflects a shared commitment to supporting Akron families beyond the classroom.
