Ohio will receive more than $200 million through the Trump Administration’s $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program, a nationwide effort to strengthen health care access in rural communities.

Governor Mike DeWine announced the funding, calling it a major step toward improving care for Ohioans who face higher rates of chronic disease and fewer health care options.

“This funding will help ensure more Ohioans can access the quality care they need,” DeWine said, thanking federal partners for their support and commitment to rural communities.

The investment will support expanded access to care, a stronger rural health workforce, and modernized facilities across the state. Planned initiatives include more school-based health centers, expanded vision care for rural students, increased support for maternal and infant health, and new partnerships to train and retain health care workers in rural Ohio.

The funding is part of a five-year, $50 billion national initiative, with $10 billion distributed annually beginning in 2026. Ohio’s share positions the state to make long-term improvements in health access and outcomes for rural communities statewide.
