Some Ohio drivers could be getting free anti-theft protection, and possibly money back.

Attorney General Dave Yost announced a multistate settlement involving Hyundai and Kia that provides compensation and security upgrades for eligible vehicle owners and lessees.

Under the settlement, qualifying consumers can receive free installation of a zinc-reinforced ignition cylinder protector to help prevent theft. Drivers whose vehicles were stolen or targeted on or after April 29, 2025 may also be eligible for restitution covering certain theft-related expenses.

Eligible Ohioans will be notified directly by Hyundai or Kia and will have one year from the notice date to schedule the free installation at an authorized dealership.

More details, including eligibility and claim information, are available online. Hyundai owners can visit HKMultistateImmobilizerSettlement.com.
Kia owners can visit customercare.kiausa.com/SWLD or call 1-800-333-4542.
