The University of Akron is announcing a major investment in on-campus housing aimed at improving student life and keeping living options affordable and competitive.

The renovation project will upgrade residence halls across campus with modern amenities designed to create more comfortable, contemporary spaces that support student success. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2026 and continue through the summer of 2027.

The University has partnered with Radnor Property Group to oversee design and construction, along with Capstone On-Campus Management, which will handle day-to-day operations in collaboration with UA’s Residence Life team.

University President R.J. Nemer says the project is a key step in strengthening the overall campus experience.

“This partnership represents a significant milestone for the University,” Nemer said. “We are reinvesting in housing, enhancing student services, preserving affordability, and reinforcing our commitment to our academic mission.”

University officials say more information about the renovation timeline and specific residence hall updates will be shared in the new year.
