A big congratulations to our very own Ray Horner! On Thursday morning (Dec. 18), Ray was surprised and honored by the City of Akron with a plaque.

Mayor Shammas Malik officially proclaimed Dec. 21 as “Ray Horner Day,” recognizing Ray’s 25 years on the air with The Ray Horner Morning Show on WAKR.

“We’ve never shied away from the tough stuff, but you’ve always cheered on Akron and encouraged us to look on the bright side,” Mayor Malik said as he read the proclamation.

“That is so kind… thank you so much. It’s much appreciated. I’m speechless,” Ray said. Mayor Malik replied, “The city is better off because of your service.”

The proclamation also recognizes Ray’s decades of service to the Akron community beyond the microphone.
