Twinsburg police say 14-year-old London Brown was found shot to death in a wooded area near Twinsburg High School on Saturday, shortly after her mother reported she had left home with a gun and was suicidal.
According to The Beacon Journal, officers discovered London in the woods near the school, and a 15-year-old Twinsburg Township boy has been charged with her murder and with evidence tampering. He is currently being held in juvenile detention.
A candlelight vigil will be held tonight (Nov. 18) from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Liberty Park (9399 Liberty Rd. in Twinsburg). Anyone is welcome to attend.
In a public statement, Twinsburg School Board Member Rhonda Crawford expressed heartfelt condolences to London’s family and the entire school community.
“Our community is grieving the unimaginable loss of this bright and beloved 9th grade student at Twinsburg High School. My heart is with her family, friends, classmates, teachers, and everyone who knew and loved her.”
Crawford described the tragedy as every family’s worst nightmare and urged the community to keep London’s family in their prayers. She reminded students and parents that school counseling resources are available for anyone struggling to process the loss.
“Grief looks different for everyone, and no one has to walk through this alone,” she wrote. “Please continue to look out for each other…and extend compassion wherever you can.”
A verified GoFundMe page has been set up by the family for those wishing to offer support during this difficult time.
