The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
This week’s athletes are from Coventry High School.
Rylee Hillyard is a Senior and a 4-year varsity player on the volleyball and softball teams. She is a multiple Metro Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete recipient in volleyball and softball. 2025 All District Volleyball team who will also be participating in the all-star game. 2025 Volleyball 1st team Metro Athletic Conference. 2024 Softball All District Honorable Mention. Outside of athletics, Rylee collaborates with Coventry’s Parent Mentor Program and ASPIES creating Christmas cards for children and adults with Aspergers, Autism, PDD and other disorders. She is also a 4-year Key Club member helping the Portage Lakes Kiwanis Club with community projects. Rylee also volunteers at the Akron Foodbank. After graduation, Rylee will attend Kent State University majoring in nursing.
Brady McCracken is a Senior and a 2-year varsity football player and is also a captain of the team. Brady plays multiple positions on the team. He is the starting Tight End on offense, on defense he is the starting defensive end, and on special teams he was the punter. Brady never came off the field playing a majority of plays each week. He is a Metro Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete for 2025. Outside of athletics, Brady collaborates with Coventry’s Parent Mentor Program and ASPIES creating Christmas cards for children and adults with Aspergers, Autism, PDD and other disorders. He is also a 4-year Key Club member helping the Portage Lakes Kiwanis Club with community projects. After graduation, Brady will join the National Guard and focus on a career in engineering.
