The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
This week’s athletes are from Copley-Fairlawn High School.
Freshman Kaylee Ingratta is not only a straight A student during the first quarter of the school year and a member of the Copley Marching Band, but she has also shined in cross country.
Kaylee grabbed the title at the Avon Lake Invitational, placed 2nd at the prestigious Pat Ritchie Invitational, and made history by breaking a 41-year-old Girls 5K school record in Strongville with the time of 18:35.
“Her positivity, tireless work ethic, and ability to balance athletics, academics, and extracurriculars make her a true role model for her teammates and peers,” according to Copley-Fairlawn City Schools Athletic Director Andy Jalwan.
Senior Hendrix Sickels has proven to be a leader on the Copley-Fairlawn High School football team.
As a captain of defense and playing linebacker, Hendrix tallied 6 tackles, 1 sack and 2 tackles during a recent win over Theodore Roosevelt High School. With 11.9 tackles per game, and over 10 tackles for a loss per game, he is leading on defense as part of the 5-2 Copley Indians.
Hendrix is also proving himself in the classroom with a 3.3 GPA.
