In Portage County, Streetsboro City Schools were closed down earlier this morning, on reports that there was a man with a long gun in the area.

But, after a thorough search of area; police determined that there was no threat, and they released the following statement on Facebook:

“As of 9:38am, the school grounds and buildings have all been cleared.  SPD will continue to provide the area extra patrol and our SRO has been fully briefed.  We want to thank Metro SWAT, Kent Police Department , Aurora Police Ohio, the Portage County Sheriff’s Department and the Streetsboro Fire Department for providing personnel and equipment.  We are one team and the amount of support we received this morning shows it.  We continue to remind our community, if you #SeeSomethingSaySomething and ask residents to check their home security cameras for any activity this morning between 5am and 6:30am.”
