A 37 year old alleged child predator who has been on the run from authorities since 2013, is behind bars now awaiting extradition back to Akron.

US Marshals say they arrested Shawn Brooks after he barricaded himself inside a home in New Orleans, and tried to hide in an attic.

The Broward County Sheriff’s office in Florida issued a warrant for his arrest in 2013, and The Summit County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for his arrest in 2015.

Brooks is charged with 15 counts related to sex offenses involving minors in Broward County, as well as 11 counts for crimes he allegedly committed in Summit County.

Those include pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, importing, and disseminating material harmful to a juvenile.

US Marshals say he will remain in custody in the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, until he can be extradited to both of the locations where he faces charges.
