It was 30 years ago today when I came to Cleveland to cover the grand opening of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
Back then, I was working for WING FM Radio in Dayton, and I produced a “Behind The Scenes” program to celebrate the event.
Since then, the old, dusty, cassette copy of my program has been languishing in a box, travelling with me from town to town as I moved around the country for different jobs in the radio and music industry, then almost as if by fate; wound up back in Akron where I grew up, 13 years ago this month.
Fast forward to this past weekend, when I finally tried to reclaim the audio from ye olde cassette, and found that over the years it had somehow morphed into the Alvin and the Chipmunks version of the old Rock ‘N Roll me. Yikes! You do not want to hear that.
But, through the wonder and splendor of modern digital audio production, I have reclaimed most of my dusty memoir, bringing it back to life with some judicious edits, and (at least to my ears)–almost all of its former hard-rockin’ swagger.
So tune in, little rockers, remember the days of yore on the Lake Erie shore, and plan your next trip to see the new and improved version, of what the world saw, heard, and experienced for the first time, Sept. 2, 1995.

This was me back in 1995
