All clear at Innes CLC at 1999 East Avenue In Akron today, after police swept the building on reports of a bomb possibly planted there when somebody broke in an vandalized the building over the weekend.

No explosives were found, but the building will remain closed tomorrow, while the damage caused by vandals is cleared up.

Students on the bus in transit to Innes this morning were rerouted to Garfield CLC at 1326 Brown Street, and were sheltered in the auditorium there, while their school was being checked out by police after a reported bomb threat.

Classes for Innes students were cancelled, and parents were asked to come pick their children up from Garfield.

No one was hurt, and school officials released the following statement:

Akron Public Schools is grateful for the swift response from local law enforcement and the patience of our families and staff during today’s disruption. The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority.
